Codan 3049 HF Antenna Tuning Unit
The 3049 is an HF band antenna tuning unit intended for base station installations working into
most end fed long wire and base whip antenna systems. With 125 W RF power handling it supports full
duty cycle voice and data operation across the whole 2 to 30 MHz band within rated environmental
conditions. The unit carries the Codan fast tune interface with tune from memory, so it keeps pace
with timing dependent calling protocols including 2G and 3G ALE, and tuning stays transparent to the
operator.
Tuning covers antenna elements from 2.4 m up to 23 m, which takes in the common Codan tuned base
types such as the Code 406 whip and the Code 403 long wire. The housing is UV stabilised glass
reinforced nylon rated to IP67, so the tuner can be mounted indoors or outdoors, and an optional sun
shield is available for sites that see sustained hot sun. Both variants draw their power from the
connected Codan HF transceiver, so no separate supply is needed at the tuner.
Variants
The 3049 ships with 30 m of coaxial and control cable permanently attached, using
a UHF plug and the Codan 6 pin circular plug. The 3049-S has a 200 mm N-type RF tail
and pairs with a transceiver side Interface Adaptor, allowing a single coaxial run of up to 100 m to
the tuner. Interface Adaptor versions are available for Envoy and for the Sentry-H 6120-BM.
